What we ask of our judges
The obligations every judge accepts before they assess a single entry.
Judges lend the awards their name and their judgement. In return, they accept a clear code. Every judge confirms it before judging begins.
01Independence
Judge on merit, against the published criteria. Do not be swayed by commercial relationships, reputation, personal ties or lobbying of any kind.
02Assess only against the criteria
Score each entry against the criteria for its category — not personal preference, and never for reasons unrelated to the entry.
03Declare conflicts
Proactively declare any relationship that could reasonably affect your judgement. Where a relationship is a material conflict, step aside from that entry — see the Conflict of Interest Policy.
04Confidentiality
Treat every entry as confidential. Do not share, reuse or disclose an entrant’s information, and protect anything commercially sensitive.
05No solicitation, no inducement
Never solicit or accept any benefit connected to an entry or an entrant. Report any approach that attempts to influence your assessment.
06Consistency and diligence
Assess each entry properly and on time, applying the same standard to all. Every entrant deserves the same care.
07No influence outside the process
Do not attempt to influence scores outside the process, and do not reveal or lobby on outcomes. The result belongs to the process, not to any individual.
08Accountability
Judging activity is recorded. The Steering Group may review conduct, and a breach can lead to removal from the panel and exclusion of the affected scores.
Great judges make credible awards. This is the standard we hold them to.
